General International Relations/Global Theory and History

Miller wanted to continue his studies focused on international relations after studying international relations theory at the London School of Economics (LSE). Through the encouragement of his mentor, a Johns Hopkins SAIS alumnus and visiting professor at the school, Miller was confident that the school’s Global Theory program would be the next best step for him.

Prior to attending graduate school, Miller worked for the US embassy in Guangzhou, China, where he assisted in coordinating events hosted by the embassy and serving as a liaison to embassy staff.

As a current student at Johns Hopkins SAIS, one aspect Miller has enjoyed the most about his graduate school experience is the in-depth one-to-one discussions he has had with his professors outside of class on world affairs. He has also appreciated their academic guidance on research methods and literature to expand his knowledge on various topics. He has found this truly useful for his studies and to broaden his perspective, as he believes the world is at a critical juncture, ready for a change.

After graduating, Miller would like to continue his research of IR theory. He is particularly interested in looking into career opportunities at think tanks or pursuing a PhD degree within a similar field.
