Application Rounds

Early Notification

The school offers an Early Notification process for admissions for some of its programs. If the program you are applying to has an Early Notification option and you submit your application by November 1, you will receive an admission decision on December 15. However, financial aid and scholarship notification will not be until mid-March.  Early Notification admission is for enrollment in the following fall semester.

Through the Early Notification process, the Admissions Committee will either make an offer of admission or defer your application for consideration during the regular application process. If deferred, the applicant will be notified of an admission decision in mid-March. Early Notification is not binding.

Please note: For your application to be considered for Early Notification, please ensure that all supporting documents (as listed in the application instructions) are received by the Office of Admissions no later than November 1. If any supporting documents are received after November 1, your application will be reviewed during the regular application process.

Regular Decision

The vast majority of students apply through the Regular Decision enrollment option and receive notification in early March. Notification regarding financial aid and scholarships will also be in early March. Regular decision gives candidates more time to work on essays and take examinations – if required. Admitted candidates will be required to follow up with a response by April 20 if they have received a scholarship offer and May 1 if not.

Extended Consideration

After the Regular Decision application deadline, all Hopkins-Nanjing Center (HNC) programs, as well as our two mid-career degree programs in Washington, DC, the Master of International Public Policy (MIPP) and the Master of Arts in Global Policy (MAGP) will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis.  Decision notification will also be done on a rolling basis.  The Extended Consideration option is offered to accommodate our military partners so we extend the opportunity to everyone.  Most scholarship opportunities will still be available to those applying in the Extended Consideration phase, with the exception of the Public Service Scholars program.
